We are a big family sharing a passion, which, for us, is also a way of life. We are a sports club made up of young and differently young, enthusiastic people who, day after day, stubbornly dream, play and promote an almost unknown, yet fast-paced, free-flowing and exciting team sport: inline hockey.
Summer is giving way to autumn and on 5 October 2024 our next season will begin. We can’t wait to start a new adventure and we are making all efforts to be ready, but we need YOUR help because we want to finally express our new identity with our VERY FIRST JERSEY.
Until now, Edera 2020, having to cope with other economic challenges, has worn the jerseys borrowed from its older sister (Edera 1904). We have never had the chance to show OUR colours, OUR logo, OUR identity.
But the time has come, and from this year we want to show everyone our true colours.
You can share with us what is closest to our hearts, the symbol of all the enthusiasm and love.
Each Edera player needs two jerseys (one light and one dark) and at least one pair of pants. Each jersey costs 22 euro+VAT and each pair of pants costs 27 euro+VAT, which means 71 euros+VAT per player. So we need 1,147 euros including VAT to dress each team consisting of 12 players and 2 goalkeepers.
We have already ordered them. Now all we have to do is pay for them!
Of course it is a big commitment, so as a first step we ask you to help us dress the first 4 teams, hoping that in the near future all our players will have the opportunity to wear our colours.
We play inline hockey!
Inline hockey is a team sport that originated in Canada from soldiers who, with summer approaching, could no longer put blades under their boots to enjoy playing ice hockey. They then had the idea of replacing them with wheels and practising the same sport, but on a different surface. Inline hockey is therefore similar to ice hockey, but it is played by 4 players (instead of 5) and a goalkeeper with changes on the fly. It appeared in Italy in the 1990s as a summer hobby of ice hockey players in the Alpine region. Since then, it has gradually spread throughout the country, taking on its own distinctive features and game tactics.
Trieste boasts a great tradition of inline hockey, which has seen many clubs play in the top league and cadet championship, including Edera, Polet, Tergeste Tigers, PAT and others. On 11 July 2020, a new club, ASD Edera 2020, was born, with the aim of humbly taking up Trieste's historical legacy in inline hockey, in particular that of its older sister, Edera 1904. A little less than a year ago, Edera 2020 acquired the right to participate in the top league of inline hockey, the Serie A, a title which it defended by finishing last season fifth in the standings. This year, for the first time in Trieste's history, Edera 2020 will also have a senior women's team, alongside the senior men's Serie A team, and a men's Serie C team. Last but not least, some of its players have had the honour of wearing the jersey of the junior national team and are also beginning to appear in the senior one.
But Edera 2020 is not limited to Trieste, or even to Italy! In its few years of life, the club has had its teams and players compete in a number of international tournaments such as, most recently, the IIHS Bohemian Series 2024, the most important youth competition in Europe and one of the most important in the world. And, not to be outdone, this year it also organised the first international tournament all of its own, the Bora Cup, and the first Edera hockey camp, the Bora Lab, where it also experimented with new technologies applied to sport with the use of visors and interactive software.
In short, as you may have guessed, we are driven by great enthusiasm, a desire to develop inline hockey (as well as roller skating and floorball) starting with the very young, in whom we strongly believe. As proof of this, for the past two years we have been involved in many schools throughout the province, and we do everything we can to raise young skaters and hockey players who will be the stars of the future, but in the meantime have the chance to have fun playing a beautiful sport together.
The club firmly believes that inline hockey has for too long been unfairly labelled as a minor sport and that the only way for it to get the appreciation it deserves is to make it known as much as possible. How? By teaching as many children as possible to skate. In this way, everyone will realise how exciting it is to ‘fly’ with a pair of skates on their feet, and how nice it is to be able to share emotions, joys and sorrows with friends and teammates.
We like to dream of a future where everyone knows our beloved sport and everyone has skated at least once in their life, a future where inline hockey can become a professional sport, maybe even Olympic (since we can dream, let's make it big!), a future where hundreds of people follow the games, both live and on television, and finally inline hockey can shine as brightly as other major sports. One thing is certain... skates and hockey are addictive, ... once you've had that thrill, you can't stop!

L’associazione sportiva dilettantistica Edera 2020 è nata nel 2020 con l’intento di promuovere gli sport rotellistici a Trieste in una nuova chiave, ossia interpretando queste discipline di nicchia non solo nelle loro varie declinazioni prettamente sportive, ma anche come contesto e contenitore per lo sviluppo professionale, umano e sociale dei giovani che le praticano e che le insegnano.
