A BIKE RACE TO RAISE FUNDS!
The aim of this initiative is to raise funds for research, and with your help shine a beacon of hope on this rare disease. Furthermore, it will be a bridge between our association and the parallel one in Spain, the Fundacion Espanola Enfermedades Prionicas.
OUR AIM:
Goal: €10,000 (All or nothing)
Thanks to YOU we will be able to purchase part of the technical cycling equipment and food for Fabio and his companions (a driver for the camper and a video reporter). So food, water, tools to repair any flat tires and to deal with other unexpected events. With this amount we will be able to have Fabio followed by a rental camper and cover the fuel costs, so that he can have timely help in case problems arise, and accommodation for the night.
Furthermore, part of the funds raised will be allocated to the organization of information meetings in the major cities crossed. We are currently already organizing the following meetings:
● Information meeting in Verona with Dr. Gianluigi Zanusso in mid-September
● Information meeting in Milan with Dr. Gianluigi Forloni and Dr. Roberto Chiesa in mid-September
● Information meeting in Bilbao with Fundación Espanola Enfermedades Prionicas in the first days of October
As the funds increase, we will also be able to increase the information meetings, which will address topics relating to Fatal Familial Insomnia, but also prion diseases and rare genetic diseases, which unfortunately are still rarely talked about.
In detail, what we will do with your contribution; 50% of the fundraising will be dedicated to the camper, including rental, fuel and travel. 20% of the collection goes towards the food and accommodation of the participants. Another 20% of the budget will be dedicated to video documentation of the project. The remaining 10% will be directed to the events organized during the route, with a portion dedicated to unexpected events.
If the fundraising exceeds 10,000 euros, we would have the possibility to raise the level of the project's narrative by investing more resources in video shooting, up to the creation of a docu-film that talks about the Treviso-Bilbao project and the challenge for which AFIFF is on the front line, the fight against the IFF.
Departure is scheduled approximately for mid-September!
"All or nothing" means that if the indicated amount is not reached, what you donated will be returned to you!
